Assorted 360 Demos (360)

I played through a bit pile of these today, so thought I’d bung them all into one post. Blacksite:Urgh. I don’t really like FPS games. I also don’t like squad-based shooters, and marines-vs-aliens shooters are, in my opinion, dull. So imagine my joy when I realised that Blacksite is a shad-based FPS with marines shooting aliens. I could barely contain my excitement. Colin McRae’s Dirt:Where I come from, “dirt” is a synonym for “poo”, so this game is basically called …

Fallout: New Vegas (Steam Deck): COMPLETED!

How kind of Amazon to give this away for free just after I’d played Fallout 3 which was also given away for free! Like with Fallout 3, I wanted to play this as A Bad Man, but actually, I didn’t. Well, not entirely. You see, I wasn’t really a big fan of all the factions in New Vegas, not least because none of them were truly “good”: The NCR wanted control and land, Caesar’s Legion wanted slaves and loved to …

Fallout 3 (Steam Deck): COMPLETED!

I did so love Fallout 3 when it came out. I completed it, did all the DLC, got pretty much all the achievements and milked it for everything it had to offer. So why has it taken me so long to replay it? Well, it was so big that doing that again was a bit off-putting. But then, Epic gave it away for free and I now have a Steam Deck to play it on, so I thought, why not? …

Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4): COMPLETED!

Just a few hours into Batman: Arkham Knight, you’re tasked with taking the Batmobile up onto a roof and effectively making it jump from roof to roof to reach an electrical panel or something. It’s utterly ridiculous, and is not what you’d expect the Batmobile, what with it being a car and everything, is for. This did not bode well for the rest of the game. Thankfully for all concerned, that was it. Sure, there were a few car-based acrobatics …

Yakuza 4 (PS3)

I’d not touched Yakuza 4 for a month or so, because various other games happened, but I’ve been playing it quite a bit in the last week or so and have been making a lot of progress. Unlike Yakuza 3, you have more than one protagonist. So far, I’ve played as Akiyama – the ethical loan-shark who owns a hostess club – and kicked a lot of people in the face. Akiyama doesn’t go in for punches that much, it …

Things I’ve been playing recently

Earthbound (Wii U) Progressing well through this now. Well, at least I was until I entered Moonside where everythings is… wrong. The map is like Fourside only upside down, and all in neon. And there are invisible walls. And some people you talk to warp you all over the place but not to anywhere useful. And “yes” and “no” are reversed, except when saving your game. It’s very odd. Oh yeah, and Paula got kidnapped by a green squidalienghost in …

Heroes of Ruin (3DS): COMPLETED!

What seems like a very long time ago now, there was a sale on at some place I don’t even recall where three 3DS games were a tenner. Or something. One of those games was Heroes of Ruin, and since it was the first time I’d seen it alone for under ten quid, let alone with two other games for the same price, I leapt on it (along with Tetris and Steel Diver). Then they all went on my backlog …

Batman: Arkham City (Wii U): COMPLETED!

Well, look at that. It turns out the final 15% of the main story takes less than 20 minutes to do. I literally just had to make it to a cinema, then have two fights inside with the end of game boss. Two very, very easy fights. I have to say, the difficulty, and quantity, of the “big” fights in Arkham City both fall way short of those in Arkham Asylum. I think there’s only been one I didn’t beat …

Fallout 3: Into The Pitt (360): COMPLETED!

And so the final DLC, and the remaining achievements, finally fall in Fallout. Into The Pitt was a bit confusing, as part way through you have to make a decision, and it isn’t obvious which is the “good” choice, and which is the “bad” choice. I ended up doing both, playing a bit to see, then reloading the save of the better of the two outcomes. It’s a shame I’m so powered up now, as nothing – not even the …

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Who doesn’t like piloting expensive war planes, weaving through buildings and shooting missiles up the backsides of other expensive war planes? Nobody, that’s who. Here’s a trailer for the latest Ace Combat game from Namco Bandai. Which does all of the above: Press release: Fighter fans, now is your chance to marvel at the latest in the ACE COMBAT series www.acecombatassaulthorizon.com ‘ACE COMBATTM ASSAULT HORIZON’ PREPARES TO TEAR THE HEAVENS APART NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe kicks the tires, lights the …

Fallout 3 (360)

Two more days play, another, erm, 12 hours clocked on the game. Completing it seems a distant memory now, as more important tasks in-game have replaced the fate of the DC Wasteland. Tasks such as finding four people and not killing them as asked. Well, except Tenpenny, but he deserved it. I put a grenade in his pocket. Anyway, these four people gave up some keys and as the great Lord Atari once said: “Save keys to open doors!”. Doors …
